The Department of Business and Law systematically integrates legal knowledge and business management to cultivate world-class business professionals.

The Department of Business and Law is a unique department in the College of Law, bearing the name of “Business.” We offer a curriculum that enables students to acquire diverse skills in three distinct courses. These skills, based on legal knowledge, can be utilized in actual business practices related to organizational management. Hence, we foster “global human resources” who excel in law and business and who will be instrumental in business organizations in the globalization era.

Business and Law Course

In this course of study, students learn about corporate legal affairs, corporate risk, marketing, accounting, etc., and are trained to become professionals with legal knowledge in business practice. Future career paths include working in the legal department of a corporation, as a corporate manager, or as a certified public accountant.

International Legal Course

Students who wish to play an active role as specialists in international transactions and contracts in the global business arena acquire practical legal knowledge. Future career paths include trading companies, foreign-affiliated companies, international legal personnel, foreign trade personnel, and customs brokers.

Intellectual Property Course

This course of study fosters intellectual property specialists with an acquired understanding and knowledge of systems toward the creation, protection, and utilization of intellectual property such as patents and copyrights. Future career paths include the intellectual property departments of corporations, patent offices, patent attorneys, and trademark examiners at the Japan Patent Office. Students can also consider entering a graduate school specializing in intellectual property to further refine their specialized knowledge.
